Safety & Outreach
If you have been in contact with someone known to have COVID-19, it is essential to wait 10 full days to make sure that no infection appears, even if you have no symptoms, before being released from quaratine. In addition, you should monitor yourself for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 for up to 14 days after that last exposure.
Don’t be distracted by your cell phone, radio, or friends while driving. If you drink, have someone drive you home.
In NYS, a green light displayed on a vehicle indicates EMS personnel responding to a 911 call in their personal vehicle. Because our volunteers sometimes leave the station during their shift, if they get a call they will activate their green light and proceed safely to meet the ambulance. If you see a passenger car with a flashing green light, please treat it like any other emergency vehicle; we are requesting the right of way – this is a courtesy light. When it is safe to do so, please pull over to the right and come to a complete stop.
Please remember that it’s NYS law that you slow down and move over for Stopped emergency and Maintenance Vehicles. (Fire, Police, EMS, Tow, DOT and volunteer lights)
Keep social distancing – stay home if you’re sick – take caution with New Yorkers at risk (from NYS health official website)
